The streets of Wazir Abad bustle in the moments before the breaking of fast, or Iftar, midway through the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, in Kabul. The dates of Ramadan are dictated by the moon, and this year, falling in June & July, the days are long and stifling. The pace of the city slows and, come dusk, there's barely a soul on usually bustling streets. Instead Kabulis race home to eat dates and sweets, and drink carrot juice and sugary tea with their families throughout the balmy night.
