Forbearance, absolute resistance, not fearing the enemy, discrediting the enemy, not turning passive against the enemy. It is very important that a man avoids being afflicted with passiveness against the enemy. Today’s materialistic world of arrogance- that is these arrogant states which control over the world’s economy and weaponries and even in numerous cases the cultures of lots of countries- shatter resistance found anywhere by making people passive.
Turning passive against the enemy is the most erroneous act and the biggest mistake. One should credit the enemy with animosity; that is to say one should not make light of them and should be prepared to defend [against] them.
However one should not esteem the enemy, should not be impressed and turn passive against it. The enemy is seeking to make the communities passive.

استقامت، ايستادگى مطلق، از دشمن نترسيدن، از دشمن حساب نبردن، در مقابل دشمن به انفعال دچار نشدن. اين خيلى مهمّ است كه انسان در مقابل دشمن، دچار انفعال نشود. تمام سعى امروز دنياى مادّىِ مستكبر - يعنى همين دولتهاى استكبارى كه زمام مسائل اقتصاد و تسليحات عالم و حتّى در موارد بسيارى، فرهنگ خيلى از كشورها را هم در دست دارند - اين است كه هر جا مقاومتى هست، آن را از طريق منفعل كردن خُرد كنند. انفعال در مقابل دشمن، غلطترين كار و بزرگترين اشتباه است. دشمن را از لحاظ دشمنى، بايد به حساب آورد؛ يعنى در مقابل او، او را حقير نشمرد و در برابرش آماده بود و دفاع كرد؛ اما از دشمن نبايد حساب برد، نبايد تحت تأثير قرار گرفت و نبايد در مقابلش منفعل شد. دشمن مى‌خواهد جوامع را منفعل كند.
