One of Kabul's tens of thousands of hopeful day-labourers, on Pul-i-Sorkh (Red Bridge) in Kabul's south, at dawn this morning. Many that come to such locations throughout the city, where construction contractors know to go when they need labourers, go for several days, or even weeks, without so much as a day's work in, for example, masonry for 800-1,000 Afghani (approx $US13-16) or as a simple labourer, 300-500 Afghani (approx $US5-9).
