We are staying here near this burned out temple, under the stars. It is clear with no wind for now. I need this to clean out my brain. I have been foggy as of late. Im out near the #SaltonSea for this series, continuing an experiment I began on the @newyorkerphoto stream last year. This time I am collaborating with Oakland artist Monica Canilao (@__moreferalthan__) and @outsiderbooks on a project called SHELTER. This is a look at the work in progress and our life out here as we make it. This sketch involves building (we are building our temporary home here), and documenting other shelters and the people that we meet out here. These are just the first layer. After this journey I will surrender my photographs to be altered by my Monica in the coming months. This is something very different from my magazine work.
