Three weeks after Kunduz was overrun by the Taliban and while artillery and rockets fired by Afghan attack helicopters can still be heard coming from the outskirts, the city is filling up with those who fled and the bazaars busy as residents restock their houses and offices. At sunset, as the call to prayer sung out across the city, one could have been mistaken for thinking that nothing had changed in Kunduz.
