آیتالله خامنهای در خصوص نوع نگاه اسلام و غرب به سلاحهای کشتارجمعی عنوان میکنند:
سیاستمداران دروغگو و منافق امریکایی برای این که هدف پلید خود را پنهان کنند، ایران را متهم می کنند به این که می خواهد کلاهک هستهای درست کند؛ سر موشکهای بالستیک بگذارد و پرتاب کند! کجا پرتاب کند؟! ما با دشمنانِ خود این طوری رفتار نمی کنیم. کاربرد بمب اتمی برای نابود کردن ملتها، کار خود امریکایی هاست. آنها تنها دولتی هستند که این جنایت بزرگ را تا امروز انجام دادهاند. غربیها هستند که سلاح شیمیایی ساختند و آن را به کار بردند و در جنگ هشت ساله ی عراق با ایران، آن را در اختیار صدامیها و بعثیها گذاشتند و در مقابل فجایعی که از این راه پیش آمد، سکوت کردند و به صدام از پشت کمک کردند. اسلام به ما این اجازه ها را نداده است. ما از علم برای پیشرفت استفاده می کنیم؛ این بهانه ی امریکایی هاست.

In order to conceal their wicked plans, the hypocritical and lying U.S. politicians accuse Iran of being after developing #nuclear warheads to cap the ballistic missiles and launch them! Launch them to where?! We do not treat our enemies in such a way. Exploiting nuclear bombs to perish the nations is an American job. To this day, they are the only government which has committed such a big crime. It was the Westerners who produced and used chemical weapons and provided Saddam and the Ba'athist regime with such weapons during their 8 years of war against Iran while they remained silent towards the disasters caused by such weapons and helped out Saddam at the backstage. Islam does not give us such permission. The Americans’ pretext is that they say they use science for progress. 21/03/2005
During the atomic bombings of Japan, 246 thousand Japanese civilians were massacred while during Saddam's chemical attacks on #Iran, 300 thousand of our countrymen were set to suffer severe injuries and illnesses. Unfortunately, these pains and diseases resulted from these injuries will last for life for these dear ones.
