Shia Muslim mourners waving falgs during a procession on a fourth day of Muharram in Tabriz, East Azeribaijan Province, Iran.
Flags taken out during mourning procession are mostly either black or red. Red flags reminds of the red flag on the dome of Hussein (as) who was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Also it was also an Arab tradition to raise a red flag as a symbol of the one who killed unjustly.
