Nakhl-Gardani ceremony in Hamaneh Village on Ashura day. Nakhl is a huge wooden cypress-shaped structure which symbolizes the coffin of Imam Hossein. It also has other decorations such as mirrors, fruits, decorative knots and silk clothes, which are tied at two sides of Nakhl. Muharram rituals mark the anniversary of the Battle of Karbala when Imam Hossein, the 3rd Shia Imam, and some of his family members were killed by Yazid forces years ago. #Yazd, #Iran.
