موزیک Hallelujah را لئوناردو کوهن نوشته است و بارها به شکل های مختلف اجرا شده است. در واقع محبوب ترین ورژن این آهنگ ورژن لئوناردو کوهن نیست بلکه ورژن Jeff Buckley توانسته است از همه ی ورژن ها حتی ورژن اصلی محبوب تر و شناخته شده تر باشد.
لئوناردو کوهن آهنگ Hallelujah را مجموعه ای از انواع شکرگزاری می داند. Hallelujah با داستان داوود شروع می شود. داوود که پیامبر خوش صدای خداوند بوده است دل به دختری می سپارد و دختر او را به بند می کشد و موهایش را کوتاه می کند. داوود که در دام افتاده است و از طرفی خداوند هم به خاطر این اتفاق از او دلگیر شده است تنها ابزاری که دارد را به کار می گیرد تا آوازی برای عذرخواهی و شکرگزاری بسازد.
صدای خوش داوود شفاعتش را می کند و او نجات پیدا می کند.
در Hallelujah این دختر، دختر بدکاره ای که در کتاب های مقدس از آن یاد می شود نیست. بلکه معشوقه ی بی رحم و البته معجزه گری است که توانست آهنگ hallelujah را از میان لبان داوود بیرون بکشد
