September 12, 1994... the day a tall baby was born to the happiest mother, and she didn't know how her child was going to bring pride to the world, and how he was going to save millions of hopeless and depressed people or the many people whose only escape from a dark world is music.
He was born in such a season. Summer gone, autumn not yet arrived, the world standing at an ambiguous temperature. Not warm, not cold. Not high, not low. Like someone standing right in the middle of their life; behind them, the road already traveled; ahead, the road not yet walked.
People call him RM. On stage, he is a defined symbol: a leader, a rapper, a translator the one who stood on the podium of the United Nations and said, "Speak yourself and love yourself, and it doesn't matter which country you're from, what color your skin is, or what your gender is."
My dear Namjoon,
The path you walked went from the underground to the ground; from "Rap Monster" to "RM"; from being denied to being followed. You didn't doubt, did you? You did doubt. You made mistakes, and you corrected them. You grew up under the light, but you always kept a quiet kind of self reflection the kind that only lifts its head in the heart of the night, in the sound of turning pages, on a street where no one knows you.
Today, belatedly, September 12, 2026, is your birthday.
I wish your thirty-first year exactly as you want it: at your own pace, toward your own path. You no longer need to be chased by "who you should be." Just be the one you are in the process of becoming.
-happy birthday RM- :) 🤏🏻
