Today marks the th anniv of the liberation of Khorram

Today marks the 34th anniv. of the #liberation of Khorramshar in sw Iran in 1982. The port city of #Khorramshar, in the oil-rich #Khouzestan province, had been captured in Oct 1980 and remained occupied for 575 days by Saddam Hussein's troops who were heavily supported by the west during the 8-year war that Iraq initiated against #Iran.
The photo was taken from @faramarzi.kazem's archives and shows some of the Iranian soldiers standing in front of the iconic Jamé mosque in Khorramshahr after the 2-day fierce battle and taking back the city from Iraqis.
