Eduardo Salamanca is the main antagonist (alongside Chuck Mcgill) of AMC's TV series Better Call Saul, the prequel of Breaking Bad. He is a Mexican drug lord and high-ranking cartel capo. He is portrayed by actor Tony Dalton and was created by writers Peter Gould and Gordon Smith.


Eduardo was born in Mexico and raised by his uncle, Hector Salamanca, alongside his cousins Tuco, Marco, and Leonel, as well as his nephew Joaquin. The Salamanca family operates as enforcers for the Juárez Cartel under boss Don Eladio Vuente, adhering to the creed “family is everything".


Eduardo became a major lieutenant and eventually a capo—second only to Don Eladio in status—and was referred to as “Don” like other cartel leaders. He was put in charge of the cartel’s enforcement operations in Michoacán and served as a high-profile narcotics distributor. After Hector suffered a paralyzing stroke, Eduardo traveled from Mexico to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to oversee the family’s drug operation, taking a more hands-on approach than his uncle had.


He is depicted as cheerful and charismatic, yet capable of extreme ruthlessness when needed. Trained from a young age in the cartel’s violent culture, he is described as a cold-hearted killer hardened to criminal life. In the narrative, after surviving an assassination attempt, he retreats to Mexico and pursues a vendetta against Hector’s rival, Gus Fring.
