"This is my mother in Lalesh. Lalesh is the most blessed place for Yazidis. If any of us has a wish - like to be married, or to have children - we visit Lalesh and make a wish. I liked taking pictures of this place - it was good to see that there's still hope." Bafrin, 19.
As part of our #MENAstories series, this week we're reposting photos taken by a group of Yazidi girls who fled conflict in Sinjar and are now living in a camp near the city of Dohuk. Earlier this year they participated in a UNICEF-supported photography workshop in their camp. The workshop helped create community, build confidence, and empowered the participants to tell their own stories. For more, see @unicef_iraq
