Maslum, 8 months old, sleeps peacefully in his family's tent in a refugee camp in Suruç, Turkey, March 2015. Maslum's mother, father, and 1-year-old brother were captured by Islamic State (ISIS) militants from the village of Kon Aftar, near Kobani, Syria, when it came under attack in July 2014. According to Maslum's mother Susan, he was born while they were in an ISIS prison, and she named him after a fighter with the YPG Kurdish militia who was imprisoned in Turkey. After 40 days of captivity, the women and children were released, but Susan has heard no news about the fate of her husband.
