قايقي خواهم ساخت،
خواهم انداخت به آب.
دور خواهم شد از اين خاک غريب
كه در آن هيچ‌كسی نيست كه در بيشه ی عشق
قهرمانان را بيدار كند.
قايق از تور تهی
و دل از آرزوي مرواريد،
همچنان خواهم راند.
نه به آبی‌ها دل خواهم بست
نه به دريا-پريانی كه سر از آب به در می آرند
و در آن تابش تنهایی ماهی گيران
می فشانند فسون از سر گيسوهاشان.
همچنان خواهم راند. همچنان خواهم خواند:
"دور بايد شد، دور."
مرد آن شهر اساطير نداشت.
زن آن شهر به سرشاری یک خوشه ی انگور نبود.
هيچ آيينه ی تالاری، سرخوشی ها را تكرار نكرد.
چاله آبی حتی، مشعلی را ننمود.
دور بايد شد، دور.
شب سرودش را خواند،
نوبت پنجره‌هاست."
همچنان خواهم خواند.
همچنان خواهم راند.
پشت درياها شهری است
كه در آن پنجره‌ها رو به تجلی باز است.
بام‌ها جای كبوترهايی است كه به فواره ی هوش بشری مي‌نگرند.
دست هر كودک ده ساله ی شهر، خانه معرفتی است.
مردم شهر به یک چينه چنان مي‌نگرند
كه به یک شعله، به یک خواب لطيف.
خاک، موسيقی احساس تو را مي‌شنود
و صدای پر مرغان اساطير می‌آيد در باد.
پشت درياها شهری است
كه در آن وسعت خورشيد به اندازه ی چشمان سحرخيزان است.
شاعران وارث آب و خرد و روشنی اند.

.Woman of that town were not as full as a bunch of grapes
No hall mirrors reflected joys
No puddles reflected a torch

The rooftops are inhabited by pigeons
