Tehran-Moscow joint strategy can lead to peace, security in region, world
Tehran (ISNA) - Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier-General Amir Hatami stressed that the JCPOA members' reaction to activation of trigger mechanism and re-imposition of sanctions on Iran was another harsh response to the US’ excessive demands.
He made the remarks in a meeting on Sunday with the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, held on the sidelines of the Army-2020 International Military and Technical Forum in Russia.
Appreciating the positive and constructive positions of the Russia against the recent US' anti-Iranian resolution, General Hatami said, “Given the continuation of threats against the two countries, further strengthening of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is necessary and inevitable”.
Noting that meetings between the two countries are ongoing at a high and satisfactory level, he added, “In recent years, Iran and Russia have launched a joint and purposeful effort to counter the unilateralism and bullying policies of the US and the Trump administration in the region”.
“The realistic response of the UN Security Council and the rejection of the recent US anti-Iran resolution on extension of arms embargoes against Iran, once again, brought a major defeat for the US and its regional allies and proved the global opposition to unilateralism,” Iranian defense minister emphasized.
Sergei Shoigu, for his part, said, “Iran and Russia have joint goals and interests in regional and international areas. We are also developing mutual cooperation in security and defense field”.
