People of Karachi come out on a hot April evening to support a non-profit organization/literary space called The Second Floor as they hold the second Creative Karachi Festival in memory of it's founder Sabeen Mahmud who tragically passed away exactly one year ago. To Karachiites and Pakistani's in general, Sabeen is someone who will always be remembered for her devotion and dedication towards promoting an exchange of dialogue and offering a space for literary debates and talks to take place. She was a champion of freedom of speech and paid for it with her life when she was gunned down while on her way home after a controversial talk was hosted at The Second Floor. Many people from the closely knit artist community in Karachi came together to make this weekend festival full of crafts, film screenings and musical performances a success .
